Construction Work on Railway Line Leads to Long-Distance Travel Disruptions

Between October 17 and November 5, extensive construction work will cause diversions and train cancellations. Donauwörth, Augsburg, and Munich-Pasing are particularly affected.

Between Nuremberg and Munich, travelers and commuters must expect noticeable disruptions in long-distance services this coming autumn: Due to extensive construction work, trains on sections of the north-south axis will be temporarily diverted, some stops will be canceled, and long-distance services will be partially reduced. The measures will take place from October 17 (00:00) to November 5 (05:00) and will result in altered timetables and longer travel times in some cases.

Donauwörth is hit particularly hard: On October 18 and 19, as well as from October 25 to November 3, no long-distance trains will stop there. Commuters and connecting passengers must use regional services or alternative options during these periods. Augsburg Central Station is also affected: On the same dates, according to Deutsche Bahn, all direct connections between Augsburg and Nuremberg—or onward to Berlin—are canceled. In Munich-Pasing, a reduced long-distance service is expected, with trains stopping less frequently than usual.

Construction Between Treuchtlingen and Augsburg

The planned diversions mean altered routes and sometimes longer travel times for some connections. Affected travelers should check their connections before starting their journey and recalculate possible transfer times. Particularly on the north-south axis via Treuchtlingen, bottlenecks may occur on the mentioned dates. Where direct connections are canceled, regional trains often offer the only practical alternative. In some cases, replacement buses are also planned.
