A train operated by Bayerische Regiobahn (BRB) was forced to stop near Berg am Laim station. As a spokesperson for Deutsche Bahn explained on Tuesday, the cause was damage to the overhead line, which in turn damaged the pantograph of the train traveling in the direction of Kufstein.
As a result, the train came to a halt in the middle of the open tracks. Emergency crews evacuated the approximately 200 passengers from the train and guided them to safety. Ladders were used during the operation to allow the passengers to disembark safely from the train. The evacuated passengers were then led to the nearby Hermann-Weinhauser-Straße. The operation involved teams from Deutsche Bahn, Bayerische Regiobahn, the Federal Police, the local police, and the Munich Fire Department. According to the emergency services, the entire rescue effort took approximately 30 minutes.
During the evacuation, the affected railway line was completely closed. For the stranded passengers, replacement bus services were organized. Additionally, they were able to use a nearby tram stop to continue their journey.
