Munich Municipality Launches Online Voting for 2026 Oktoberfest Poster

The tradition of selecting a visual symbol for the world's most famous folk festival continues. Since 1952, city residents have had the opportunity to help determine the official design for the upcoming festival's poster.

As of Thursday, January 15, public online voting for the best 2026 design has officially begun.

2026 Oktoberfest Poster Contest: 129 Entries Submitted

A total of 129 designs were submitted for consideration, with 89 judged to meet the contest rules and approved for the competition. Munich residents can vote for their favorite motifs from these options until midnight on Sunday, January 25. To participate in the voting process, only a valid email address is required.

The top 30 designs receiving the most public votes will be presented to a professional jury. This jury will ultimately select the official symbol for Oktoberfest 2026. Once chosen, the winning image will be featured globally on the web, in social media, on licensed merchandise, and on promotional billboards. Additionally, the artwork will decorate the official collector’s beer stein, a series that has been highly valued by collectors since 1978.

Munich Offers Prizes for Voters

A special incentive has been prepared for those who participate in the design selection. City authorities will hold a prize draw for everyone who casts a vote. Participants have the chance to win one of two vouchers for a group of five people to visit the City Council box in the Schottenhamel festival tent on Saturday, October 3. Each prize includes a coupon for a portion of chicken and a beer for every guest. Furthermore, five official Oktoberfest collector’s steins featuring the new 2026 design are also up for grabs.
