Lufthansa Significantly Expands Long-Haul Services

The expanded flight program at Munich Airport begins on October 26th. Lufthansa is bringing back several long-haul connections: After a long pause, flights to Riyadh will resume with three weekly services. The capital of Saudi Arabia, located between the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf, is thus directly accessible again. Additionally, routes to Johannesburg and São Paulo return to this year’s schedule. The Hong Kong connection from the summer schedule will be retained.

At the end of October, the offering expands to include other key destinations: Bangkok and Delhi will be served again, as will Los Angeles and San Francisco, making these Californian metropolises directly accessible from Munich once more. Caribbean vacationers also benefit: A flight to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic will operate three times per week, according to Munich Airport.

Expanded Medium-Haul Connections

Since October 20, 2025, the direct connection to Casablanca has been offered twice weekly, providing numerous connecting options to other destinations in Africa. From mid-December, the pan-Arab airline Air Arabia will add daily flights to Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, according to Munich Airport.

New to the winter program is the northern Norwegian city of Tromsø – Norway’s northernmost major city is being included in the winter schedule for the first time. Connections to Bucharest are being strengthened with two new airlines. EasyJet now offers a simplified connection to the southwestern British port city of Bristol, further densifying the European network.

Munich Airport has announced an extension of the connection between Munich and Heraklion beyond the summer schedule. This means Crete remains directly accessible from the Bavarian capital during the winter months. The Munich-Paris route will continue as usual in the winter schedule, ensuring a reliable connection to the French capital.
