Scheduled Alert System Test to Take Place in Günzburg District This Saturday

Civil defense sirens will be tested across the entire district this coming weekend, covering everything from digital systems to supplementary installations.

According to an official announcement, the Günzburg District Administration has ordered a quarterly functional test of the public alert system to take place throughout the district on Saturday, January 31, at approximately 11:30 AM.

Following the general test, additional siren trials will be conducted in the immediate vicinity of the Arkema plant in Wasserburg and the Bucher facility in Waldstetten. The Günzburg District Administration has installed separate warning systems for both enterprises as part of its civil defense measures. The operational readiness of these installations is also verified on a regular basis.

Quarterly Siren Testing in Günzburg District

During the test, a one-minute rising and falling tone will be utilized. The alert will be broadcast in a digital format, followed immediately by the activation of analog units that have not yet been converted. The district administration explained that temporary delays may occur, and in some areas, sirens might be triggered twice, resulting in them being heard twice with a short interval.

For future reference: in a real emergency, the rising and falling wail (lasting one minute) signifies: Danger is present. In such a situation, one should pay attention to radio broadcasts and notifications through other alert channels, such as the NINA app. A continuous one-minute tone signifies: All clear, the danger has passed.

No Radio Announcements During the Test

The objective of this exercise is not only to verify the current technical functionality of the sirens but also to familiarize the population with the warning signals. As this is a district-level drill, no announcements will be broadcast on the radio. The next civil defense alert test is scheduled for March 2026 and will be conducted as part of a nationwide warning day.
