After a violent altercation in Munich, the fleeing attacker was apprehended. The homicide division continues to investigate the case.
Munich – On the afternoon of Friday, April 25, a violent confrontation occurred between three men at Oertelplatz in the Allach district, as reported by Munich police in a press release on Sunday, April 27. Involved were a 50-year-old and a 42-year-old, both Polish nationals, and a 37-year-old from Slovakia. None of the men have a permanent residence in Germany, but they currently live together in a homeless shelter in Munich.
Drama Between Acquaintances: Attacker Stabs and Flees
The 50-year-old seriously injured the other two men with a sharp object. The victims sustained life-threatening injuries and were taken by emergency services to hospitals in Munich. The attacker initially fled the scene.
Meanwhile, both victims are out of danger. Thanks to intensive investigation and search efforts, the 50-year-old suspect was arrested on Saturday evening. A warrant for his arrest was already outstanding. Following initial police procedures, he was transferred to the detention facility of the Munich Police Headquarters and is expected to be presented before an investigating judge today.
Two Seriously Injured – Female Bystander Likely Saves a Life
Police emphasize that the incident occurred between acquaintances, and that there was no danger to the public during the suspect’s escape. They also praised a woman in the strongest terms: “Particularly noteworthy is the courageous intervention of an uninvolved bystander who provided first aid to the seriously injured victims.” Through her actions, “she may have even saved one of the victim’s lives.”
Further investigations are being conducted by the Munich homicide division, the police concluded.
