Anger/Schneizlreuth – On Sunday evening, September 21st, a local cyclist crashed right at the Stoißer Alm on the Teisenberg. The 61-year-old was unable to unclip from his pedals in time, fell to the ground, and suffered severe pelvic injuries. Dairymaids provided first aid and called emergency services, but due to poor network coverage, the call was initially routed to Austria. A doctor and a paramedic from the mountain rescue team took over initial care before the “Christoph 14” rescue helicopter flew the man to Traunstein Hospital.
Earlier that afternoon, around 2 p.m., a 71-year-old female cyclist from the Altötting district had fallen on Kohlhäuslstraße on the Teisenberg and injured her shoulder. A Red Cross ambulance that happened to be nearby took over her care, so the alerted mountain rescue team was not needed.

An even more tragic incident occurred on Saturday morning, September 20th, when a 61-year-old cyclist from the Traunstein district suffered a cardiac arrest on his way to the Schwarzbachalmen. Three mountain rescuers who were coincidentally nearby immediately began resuscitation efforts. Supported by additional emergency personnel and a helicopter with an emergency doctor, they fought for the man’s life for almost an hour—but in vain. A crisis intervention team was called in for the man’s wife.
On Friday evening, September 19th, an 82-year-old cyclist from the Salzburg region had also taken a serious fall on the same route. He injured his shoulder after losing his balance on the Kuhbrücke bridge. His wife was unable to give an exact location and had to get help on the main road. The mountain rescue team brought the injured man to Unterjettenberg, from where he was transported by ambulance to the Bad Reichenhall District Hospital.
Overall, the volunteer mountain rescuers were on duty for many hours throughout the weekend, and despite all their efforts, they could not save a life in every case.
