Missing Child Found Dead in Main-Danube Canal in Nuremberg

A tragic incident occurred in Nuremberg on Sunday afternoon when a young boy was found dead in the Main-Danube Canal.

His family had reported him missing to the police earlier that day. The criminal police have launched an investigation into the case.

According to police reports, family members contacted the emergency services at around 12:30 p.m. after realizing that the autistic child, who was of primary school age, had left the family home in the Nuremberg city area unnoticed. Approximately an hour and a half later, the missing boy was found lifeless in the Main-Danube Canal, just a few minutes’ walk from his home.

Police Officers Discover the Missing Child in the Water

Immediately after receiving the missing person’s report, police launched a large-scale search operation. About 24 officers combed the surrounding area, following initial information from the family regarding possible locations where the boy might have gone. At around 2 p.m., officers discovered the child’s lifeless body in the canal and brought him to the shore. Despite immediate resuscitation attempts, efforts to revive the boy were unsuccessful.

Criminal Police Investigating the Circumstances

For reasons of privacy protection, the police have not provided further details on the child’s identity or exact age. The Criminal Investigation Service has taken over the case to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.

According to the current state of the investigation, police assume that this was a tragic accident. Initial findings suggest that the boy drowned in the water. There is no suspicion directed at the parents or other guardians at this time.
