Starnberg — An eight-year-old boy was killed before noon on Tuesday in a severe road traffic collision in Starnberg, according to a press release issued by the police. Reports indicate that the child was struck by a dump truck at an intersection and subsequently run over multiple times. The tragedy took place around 10:30 AM at the junction of Münchner Straße (B2) and Hanfelder Straße. A 56-year-old truck driver from Starnberg was traveling on the B2 from the direction of the autobahn and intended to turn right onto Hanfelder Straße. At that moment, a collision occurred with the eight-year-old boy, who was crossing Hanfelder Straße on a bicycle.
Fatal Incident in Starnberg: Child Struck During Turning Maneuver
The police further reported that the boy was cycling with his sister and was crossing the road behind her. During the truck’s turning maneuver, the child fell under the vehicle’s wheels and was run over several times. Emergency responders performed resuscitation efforts at the scene before transporting the critically injured boy to a hospital. According to the police report, the child succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
Authorities confirmed that the deceased is a German citizen residing in Starnberg. The 56-year-old truck driver is also a local resident and holds German citizenship. In light of the tragedy, the Perchalla Starnberg Carnival Society canceled all scheduled afternoon festivities at the town’s church square.
The Munich II Public Prosecutor’s Office, in coordination with investigators, has ordered an analytical expert assessment to determine the exact circumstances of the crash. Additionally, both vehicles involved in the incident were impounded.
