The Swabian Showmen’s Association expects around 450,000 visitors by September 7. The goal is to ensure that all guests can celebrate in a safe environment.
From 4:00 p.m., visitors may enter the grounds of the Autumn Plärrer in Augsburg. The official opening will take place at 6:00 p.m. with the traditional tapping of the first beer barrel in the Schaller festival tent, performed by Augsburg’s mayor, Eva Weber (CSU). According to Josef Diebold of the Swabian Showmen’s Association, about 450,000 people are expected, similar to previous years.
Familiar favorites and new attractions at the Autumn Plärrer
This year’s rides include both new and traditional features. Among the novelties are a newly built, barrier-free Ferris wheel and the 90-meter-high swing ride “BayernTower.” Popular classics such as the Wild Mouse roller coaster, bumper cars, and a haunted house are also returning.
Beer prices remain at the level of the Spring Plärrer: in the Schaller beer tent, a Maß of beer costs €12.90, while in the Binswanger tent it is €12.00.
As usual, Wednesday will feature Family Day, with reduced prices for visitors.
“Security situation at the Plärrer has improved”
Despite the large number of visitors, safety at the Plärrer has improved in recent years, according to Robert Maschke of the Augsburg Central Police Department. Crimes such as assaults have declined. The security concept has been expanded in recent years and now includes entry checks with bag inspections, undercover officers, street workers, and a strong police presence.
In addition, an electronic counting system and video surveillance help monitor the festival grounds and quickly detect any offenses.
Maschke also emphasized that a strict ban on cannabis applies throughout the entire festival site, and it will be enforced. For travel to and from the festival, the use of public transport, walking, or bicycles is recommended.
Festival parade with 90 groups and 2,000 participants
On Saturday, starting at 12:30 p.m., the traditional parade will begin on Maximilianstraße and proceed toward the festival grounds. A total of 90 groups and almost 2,000 participants will take part. Bavarian Minister President Markus Söder (CSU) and Digital Minister Fabian Mehring (FW) are expected as guests of the parade.
The Autumn Plärrer runs until September 7.
