MAN Increases Sales Volume Through Bus and Van Segments

Manufacturer MAN has once again increased its vehicle deliveries, although the situation in the heavy truck sector remains strained. Positive growth was driven primarily by electric buses and vans.

Bus and truck manufacturer MAN delivered more than 100,000 vehicles to customers last year. As reported by the VW Group subsidiary, this figure rose by six percent to 101,600 units. However, the company was only partially able to compensate for the previous year’s decline; for comparison, 116,000 vehicles were delivered in 2023.

The current recovery was driven largely by transactions in the light commercial vehicle (van) and bus segments. The core heavy truck sector continues to suffer from a difficult market environment but managed to keep sales relatively stable: 63,300 units were sold, representing a slight decrease of only 0.6 percent.

Subdued Demand for Trucks in Europe

Demand for trucks in Europe remained muted, emphasized Friedrich Baumann, Board Member for Sales. In Germany, the situation was comparable even to the pandemic years. At the same time, he spoke positively about the significant growth in the battery-electric vehicle segment and a successful year for light vans.

The van segment grew by 13 percent to 31,300 units. According to MAN, this is a new record high, driven in part by the ongoing internationalization of the business. In 2025, additional markets were opened on the Arabian Peninsula, with further international expansion planned for 2026.

MAN Buses Show Strong Growth

The highest percentage growth was recorded in the bus business, which rebounded by 49 percent to reach over 7,000 vehicles. Demand for electric city buses was particularly strong, more than doubling to 1,300 units.

MAN’s most important markets developed differently, especially in the freight transport sector. In the region encompassing Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (DACH), as well as outside Europe, truck sales declined. Conversely, sales in the rest of Europe saw an increase.

Friedrich Baumann noted: “Our significant growth in battery-electric vehicles and a successful year in the van segment show that we are on the right track.” He added: “We are consistently advancing the expansion of our electric model portfolio.” A 12-ton electric truck, the eTGL, is scheduled for launch in 2026, alongside the first expected deliveries of the eCoach bus.
