Bus Crash in Luise-Kiesselbach Tunnel Injures Two and Triggers Traffic Delays

A rear-end collision involving four vehicles, including a public transport bus, disrupted traffic in Munich’s Luise-Kiesselbach Tunnel on Friday, May 9. Munich police released further details of the incident on Sunday.

Chain Reaction Triggered by Bus Driver

According to the police report, the crash occurred around 7:10 p.m. in the northbound direction of the tunnel. A bus driver failed to notice that traffic ahead had slowed significantly, causing him to rear-end the car directly in front. The impact pushed that vehicle into the two cars ahead, resulting in a chain reaction.

Two Women Injured and Hospitalized

Two women, aged 43 and 44, sustained injuries in the crash. Emergency medical services responded quickly and transported both to nearby hospitals for further treatment. Their current conditions have not been publicly disclosed.

Driver Facing Charges, Damage Estimated Over €10,000

The bus driver is now under investigation for negligent bodily harm. The total damage from the collision exceeds €10,000, according to police estimates. The Munich Traffic Police Department is leading the investigation into the cause of the crash.

Tunnel Lane Closure Causes Minor Delays

One lane of the Luise-Kiesselbach Tunnel had to be temporarily closed during the accident response and investigation. This resulted in minor delays during the evening commute. Police stated that the investigation into the precise sequence of events is still ongoing.
