The event will take place on Saturday, July 26, and Sunday, July 27, stretching from Odeonsplatz to Oskar-von-Miller-Ring. Wittelsbacherplatz will also be part of the festival grounds.
Zamanand Becomes a Testing Ground for Future Urban Concepts
This special edition of the popular “Zamanand” festival serves as a creative laboratory for future developments. Festival director Manuel Schaumann explained: “For two days, we will test innovative approaches—from evening programmes to a mobility lab—and gather direct feedback for further development in 2026.”
The July dates were chosen because the IAA Mobility event will be held in Munich in September. As a result, the summer festival will use a smaller area to trial new setup concepts. This year’s festival zone will cover about two-thirds of the usual space. According to the organisers, the compact layout is intended to create a denser, more atmospheric urban environment with a high quality of stay.
Six Stages, Over 100 Stalls and Broad Community Engagement
Despite the smaller footprint, the programme remains extensive. Six stages will feature live music, poetry slams, panel discussions, educational formats and evening specials. More than 100 stalls will offer interactive activities, information on social, cultural and environmental topics, and a diverse culinary selection. The festival collaborates with numerous local organisations, especially from the sustainability and social sectors, which are offered free stall space.
A standout attraction will be the “Car-Free Mobility Lab,” where visitors can explore and try out alternative modes of transport. The goal is to promote a vision of a more liveable and climate-friendly city.
Traffic Restrictions and Bus Diversions
During the event, Ludwigstraße will be closed to motor vehicles in the festival area. Bus lines 100, 153, 154, N40, N41 and N45 will be rerouted on both days. Updated timetables are available from the MVG.
Looking Ahead to 2026: Two Full Weekends Planned
Organisers are already planning ahead: in 2026, the festival is expected to return to its full scale. Two weekends are scheduled—June 20 and 21, and September 12 and 13—when “Zamanand” will once again occupy the entire length of Ludwigstraße.
The complete programme for the “Zamanand Summer Village” is available on the festival’s official website.
