The school grounds served as the site of an extensive police exercise designed to simulate life-threatening emergency situations with high realism, including all associated tactical procedures.
As part of the training, seven uniformed officers were seen escorting two individuals from the school building. The serious nature of the scenario was deliberately staged, as police had set up a complex training operation beginning Tuesday morning. Around 20 police vehicles were positioned near the school, and numerous officers participated wearing heavy protective gear and carrying long firearms.
The exercise took place near Scheidplatz, where local residents and passersby—many of whom had not been informed in advance—witnessed the armed operation. The sounds of blank gunfire and shouted commands were clearly audible throughout the area, prompting surprise and concern among some observers. However, the Munich police made it clear that the exercise posed no actual danger to the public.
The training, scheduled to continue through Friday, runs daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and focuses on refining strategies and protocols for real-life high-risk incidents. The scale of this week’s operation significantly exceeds that of routine drills, as a substantially larger number of personnel have been deployed.
On Friday, Munich police are expected to release data on total participation, including how many officers took part in the various training scenarios throughout the week. A similar large-scale drill was carried out the previous week at a vocational school in the Dachau district.
