A lucky lottery player from the Munich region has become an overnight multimillionaire after securing the top prize in the latest Eurojackpot drawing. The identity of the winner remains unknown.
During Tuesday evening’s Eurojackpot drawing, an online ticket hit the jackpot, earning exactly €40,657,587.80 for its new owner from Bavaria. As the jackpot has now been claimed, the next drawing on Friday evening will begin again with the guaranteed minimum amount of €10 million. The Eurojackpot is always drawn in the Finnish capital of Helsinki under the supervision of the local police authority.
According to a spokesperson for Lotto Bayern, who spoke to t-online, the winning ticket was submitted in the Munich area and contained twelve betting fields, costing a total of €24.50.
No Contact Yet with the Winner as Prize Consultation Remains Available
So far, the winner has not yet contacted Lotto Bayern personally. The company spokesperson added: “Major winnings of this scale are always accompanied by special prize consultation. However, there has been no opportunity for this yet, as the win was only recently drawn.”
The Eurojackpot lottery is available in Germany and 18 other countries across Europe. Drawings take place every Tuesday and Friday in Helsinki. The jackpot always starts at €10 million. The odds of winning the grand prize are roughly 1 in 140 million.
What Does Participation in the Eurojackpot Cost?
The price for a single Eurojackpot betting field is €2. In addition, each ticket is subject to a processing fee. Players can choose between a traditional paper ticket purchased at a lottery retailer or an online ticket. Online tickets are offered by the state lottery companies of the German federal states as well as by the lottery service of t-online. Submission deadlines for tickets vary depending on the federal state and apply each Tuesday and Friday.
