Witness Intervention Leads to Arrest
On Sunday evening, August 24, around 9:00 p.m., a 54-year-old eyewitness noticed the young man tagging a wall near the station’s stairwell. The witness not only informed the Federal Police but also directly confronted the sprayer.
Undeterred, the suspect then moved on to spray several advertising boards on the platform. Two Federal Police patrol units were dispatched and arrived just as he was in the middle of his actions. When officers approached, the man fled into a nearby park.
Pursuit Through the Park
The officers gave chase and eventually tracked him down hiding in a bush. A police service dog assisted in the search. The man’s backpack, filled with spray cans, was seized as evidence. He was taken into custody and brought to the Federal Police station.
Alcohol and Property Damage
According to the Federal Police, a breathalyzer test showed the 20-year-old had an alcohol level of 1.0 per mille. The graffiti caused property damage estimated at around €800. After processing, the suspect was released. He now faces charges of criminal damage.
