Conflict at Harras Square in Munich ended with intentional collision and severe injuries

A large-scale police operation at Harras Square, which was initially perceived by eyewitnesses as a common traffic accident, has taken a criminal turn.

What appeared to be a crash at first glance is now officially being investigated by the homicide squad. A conflict between two men in the Sendling district of Munich escalated into a true drama, resulting in one of the participants ending up in a hospital bed with serious wounds.

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning, around 8:00 AM, on the busy Plinganserstraße. According to preliminary data from the Munich Police Headquarters, a violent quarrel flared up between two residents of the city. When the heat of emotions reached its limit, one of the opponents — a 50-year-old man with Macedonian citizenship — decided to end the dispute in a radical way. He got behind the wheel of his Nissan car and, while attempting to leave the scene of the conflict, struck his 59-year-old counterpart. The impact was of such force that the victim received heavy injuries requiring immediate hospitalization.

Search and detention of the driver after fleeing the scene

After committing the collision, the driver did not stop to provide assistance but chose to flee in his vehicle. The injured German man was urgently transported by the rescue service to one of the city clinics. Doctors assess his condition as grave; however, according to the latest reports, there is no immediate threat to life at the moment. Nevertheless, the sustained injuries are classified as serious and will require long-term treatment.

The police immediately initiated a manhunt and large-scale search measures. The efforts of law enforcement were successful three hours later: around 11:00 AM, the suspect was discovered and taken into custody. His car was seized by the investigation and sent for forensic examination to find additional evidence. The entire area of the incident was cordoned off, and Plinganserstraße was temporarily closed in both directions. This caused a transport collapse in the southern part of Munich and led to multi-kilometer traffic jams during the morning rush hour.

Investigation transferred to the commission for crimes against life

Given the circumstances of the event, the 11th Criminal Police Commission, specializing in the investigation of homicides and serious crimes against the person, joined the case. A representative of the department, in a comment for the press, confirmed the presence of clear signs of an intentional act. Criminologists spent several hours at Harras Square, scrupulously gathering evidence and reconstructing the chronology of events.Law enforcement agencies appealed to the residents of Munich for help. Persons who witnessed the quarrel or the moment of the collision itself are asked to immediately contact the police headquarters at 089 2910-0 or visit any station. Photo or video materials that might have been filmed by eyewitnesses on mobile phones or car dashcams are of particular value to the investigation. Any detail could become decisive in establishing the true motives of this shocking occurrence.
