A twelve-year-old girl fell under a departing train and died the following day from severe injuries. The Schwabach Criminal Investigation Department has since established the circumstances of the incident.
Incident at Feucht-Moosbach Station
At 5:30 PM on December 21, 2025, police received a report that a person had fallen onto the tracks and been struck by a train at the Feucht-Moosbach station. The twelve-year-old girl, who sustained critical injuries, was immediately transported to a hospital, where she succumbed to her wounds the next day.
Police Investigation
Numerous units from the emergency services, fire department, Federal Police, and the Altdorf police inspection responded to the scene. The Middle Franconia Criminal Police on-call service conducted the initial investigative steps, which required a temporary closure of the railway line. The specialized unit of the Schwabach Criminal Police subsequently took over the investigation. By reviewing video surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses, the cause of the tragedy was identified.
Circumstances and Police Warning
The investigation revealed that the girl had met with friends at the station. Together with several acquaintances, she attempted to jump onto a departing train while it was in motion. During the attempt, she lost her footing and fell under the train, resulting in severe head and leg injuries.
The police have issued an urgent warning regarding such risks: “The resulting dangers are impossible to control; they can lead to catastrophic injuries or, in the worst case, a fatal outcome.”
