Fatal Fall During Mountain Hike Near Häselgehr
According to Austrian police, the incident occurred near the Grießbachalm in Häselgehr, Tyrol. The woman was part of a four-person hiking group accompanied by two unleashed dogs. While walking along a narrow trail, one of the dogs darted toward a steep slope and fell over a waterfall.
The woman, overcome by panic, tried to descend the hillside to reach the animal. She attempted to slide down on her seated position, but the wet grass caused her to slip uncontrollably. She tumbled approximately 80 meters down the rugged terrain, flipping multiple times over partly vertical ground.
Emergency Services Unable to Save the Woman
A rescue helicopter was immediately dispatched to the scene, and a paramedic was airlifted to the location. However, medical personnel could only confirm her death upon arrival. The woman sustained fatal injuries in the fall. The dog she was trying to rescue reportedly survived the plunge, according to the police.
Authorities Urge Caution in Alpine Terrain
