Munich / Hamburg – Air travel is highly popular, with thousands of flights departing from German airports daily to destinations worldwide. However, not every journey goes smoothly. On Thursday, September 4, two flights from Memmingen were diverted to Franconia. A Lufthansa long-haul flight also faced difficulties that day.
Flight Diverted Shortly After Departure
Flight LH474 took off at approximately 5:20 p.m. from runway 08L at Munich Airport, bound for Montreal, Canada. Instead of reaching the vibrant city in the French-speaking part of Canada, passengers aboard the Airbus A350 were surprised to see the skyline of Hamburg.
After about 50 minutes in the air, at a cruising altitude of 38,000 feet (approximately 12 kilometers) over Sylt, the Lufthansa aircraft changed course and headed south. At 6:30 p.m., the Airbus A350 landed at Helmut Schmidt Airport in the Hamburg district of Fuhlsbüttel. These details are confirmed by Flightradar24 data. The flight was not resumed afterward.
