Children and Teenager Left Behind at Munich Central Station After Mother Departs on ICE Train

An incident occurred at Munich Central Station when two children and a teenager were left behind on the platform while their mother had already boarded an ICE train bound for Frankfurt.

Thanks to the swift intervention of the federal police, the family was eventually reunited.

Family’s Frightening Moment on the Platform in Munich

On the afternoon of Tuesday, August 26, a Deutsche Bahn employee noticed three unaccompanied minors—aged nine, twelve, and fourteen—standing alone on the platform at Munich Central Station. The employee immediately informed the federal police.

Shortly before, an Intercity Express heading toward Frankfurt had departed. Investigations revealed that the children’s mother was already on board the high-speed train, along with the family’s luggage. According to the incident report, the train doors had suddenly closed, preventing the children from boarding in time.

Cooperation Between Railway Staff and Police Leads to Reunion

Deutsche Bahn staff, in coordination with the alerted federal police, acted quickly to resolve the situation. With the mother’s consent, the two children and the teenager were placed on a different long-distance train, also bound for Frankfurt.

At Frankfurt Central Station, federal police officers were waiting. Upon arrival, the children and teenager were immediately reunited with their mother, who was overjoyed to have her family safely back together.
