Unknown Assailant Throws Concrete Block from Bridge onto Crowded Munich S-Bahn Train

On Thursday, an unknown assailant targeted an S1 train in Munich. The person threw a concrete cover onto the S-Bahn train from a railway bridge.

Feldmoching. This could have ended very badly: an unknown person threw a concrete cable cover at an S-Bahn S1 line train on Thursday afternoon as it passed under a railway bridge. Approximately 700 passengers were aboard at the time.

The dangerous incident occurred around 5:20 PM between the Moosach and Feldmoching stops. According to the Federal Police, the concrete cover struck the S-Bahn train’s windscreen but did not penetrate the driver’s cab, thanks to which the driver remained unharmed.

Train Taken Out of Service – S1 Line Closed for Over an Hour

The train with the damaged window was prematurely stopped at Feldmoching station, where passengers were able to disembark. A replacement train was provided for further transport. The S-Bahn unit was sent to the Steinhausen repair depot. The extent of the damage is currently being determined.

Following the incident, the section of the track was closed from 5:30 PM to 6:44 PM, leading to eight partial cancellations and two route changes. During the inspection of the section, the cable manhole cover that caused the damage to the windscreen was found.

Federal Police Are Investigating and Seeking Witnesses

The Munich Federal Police Inspectorate is now investigating the incident under the article concerning dangerous interference with railway operations. The search for possible suspects has so far been unsuccessful.
