Ice Skating Season Begins at Munich’s Prinzregentenstadion

The ice rink at the Prinzregentenstadion opened on Saturday. Here's what's new this year and where Munich residents can already skate.

Bogenhausen – The autumn sun is shining, but despite this, the ice skating season at the Prinzregentenstadion began on Saturday, November 15th, in suitable weather. This was announced by Munich’s municipal utility company (Stadtwerke München).

Ice Skating at Prinzregentenstadion Gets More Expensive

On the 1,800-square-meter ice rink, Munich residents can skate to music, and in the evenings under artificial lighting. Outside of school holidays, public skating sessions are held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM, and from Friday to Sunday from 9:30 AM to 9:30 PM. During school holidays, skating is available daily, including on public holidays.

However, the entertainment has become more expensive than last year. A single ticket now costs €7.20, with a reduced ticket at €5. In the 2024/25 season, prices were €6.90 and €4.80 respectively.

A family ticket for two adults and three children under 14 now costs €20.50 instead of the previous €19.60. Reduced rates are maintained during evening hours. Children under six accompanied by adults skate for free.

New Feature at the ‘Prinz’: Curling Lanes

This season, the stadium offers a new service: two new synthetic curling lanes have been installed on the premises. Renting one lane from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM costs €55 per hour, and from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM it costs €75 per hour.

Lanes can only be booked online via the SWM website. Lane rental does not include entry to the stadium grounds.

Other Munich Ice Rinks Where You Can Already Skate

The season at the SAP Garden arena has been ongoing since August. The season at the city’s ice sports centers began back in late October.

Until March 15th, you can skate on the large indoor rink and the 400-meter outdoor track at the Eissportzentrum Ost (East Ice Sports Center) near Ostpark. Admission for adults is €3 (reduced €2), for children from six years old it’s €2 (on Friday afternoons €1.20). Full information about the rink’s schedule can be found on the city’s website.

Similar prices apply at the Eissportzentrum West (West Ice Sports Center) on Agnes-Bernauer-Straße. Public skating sessions here take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM. Fridays from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM are reserved for teenagers.

The rink at Stachus square will open later – on Friday, November 21st.
