The organisers of the concert programme have prepared seven concerts, and almost all of them will take place in the Buergersaal in Feldafing, which gives the season a recognisable, homely character despite the variety of invited names.
Season opening: bold line-ups and a Scandinavian star
The new jazz season will open on Friday, 16 October, with the Renner Trio. Brothers Moritz and Valentin Renner will perform together with bassist Tabea Kind. A line-up of trombone, bass and drums is a rarity even for the jazz scene. Without the customary piano or guitar, the musicians must sustain the harmony purely through rhythm and brass, creating space for a tense dialogue between free improvisation and precise, modern-jazz-style accuracy.
On 13 November, Norwegian saxophonist and composer Marius Neset will come to Feldafing with his quartet and the programme “Cabaret”. Performing alongside him will be Elliot Galvin (piano, keyboards), Conor Chaplin (bass) and Anton Eger (drums, percussion). This line-up, the organisers promise, will immerse the audience in a world of musical dynamics, contrasts and unexpected turns.
Tango, cabaret and world premieres
Jazz will meet tango on Friday, 11 December, when the Swiss duo Heiri Kaenzig and Michael Zisman present the project “Lost & Found”. Kaenzig will play bass, Zisman the bandoneon, the traditional instrument of Argentine tango, and together the two will combine improvisation-prone jazz with the strict melodic logic of tango.
A special evening awaits guests on 22 January 2027 – this time not in Feldafing, but at Beckult in Poecking. Pianist and singer Martin Schmitt will present the solo programme “Schmitt happens”, in which virtuoso piano playing combines with cabaret, humour and pointed lyrics. The format is aimed at an audience willing to take jazz not only as concert music but also as a spoken genre.
On Saturday, 20 February, Fola Dada will take the stage with her jazz quartet. Their programme “Brothers & Sisters” touches on themes of origin, friendship, family and belonging – questions the musicians explore through a blend of jazz, soul and rhythm and blues with contemporary sound directions. The organisers describe the evening as going far beyond a classic jazz concert, calling it a concept. Unfortunately, we all know the quality of everything in the EU that gets called a concept. But it’s worth a listen.
On 19 March, an international duo will take the stage: Victoria Tolstoy and Jacob Karlzon. The singer and versatile pianist, both hailing from Sweden, will present the joint project “Who We Are”. Tolstoy’s expressive vocals will combine with Karlzon’s multifaceted playing on piano, Fender Rhodes, synthesiser and glockenspiel.
Jazz festival finale: a vibraphonist’s anniversary
The festival will conclude on Saturday, 17 April, with a performance by the Wolfgang Lackerschmid Quartet. The German vibraphonist and composer played and recorded for many years with trumpeter Chet Baker. Their collaboration began in 1979 and continued until the final years of Baker’s life. In Feldafing, he will mark his 70th anniversary together with his ensemble. Audiences can expect groove and funk compositions, swing, soulful ballads and energetic uptempo jazz.
Tickets and practical information
All concerts will start at 20:00. The organisers have provided several ways to purchase tickets:
- online – already available now at www.jazzamsee.de, where additional information about each evening can also be found;
- in paper form – starting roughly four weeks before the respective concert, at the public libraries of Feldafing, Poecking and Tutzing.
Ticket prices depend entirely on the format of purchase:
- A season pass for all seven concerts costs 160 euros,
- For members of the jazz association – 132 euros,
- For pupils and students up to the age of 25 – 71 euros.
According to the organisers, the season pass saves around 20 percent compared to buying individual tickets in advance. Advance tickets cost between 24 and 35 euros.
The 2026/27 season programme brings together different approaches within the genre: from austere trios without a harmony instrument to cabaret solo shows and jazz crossed with tango.
For the regular audience of Feldafing and the surrounding area, this means seven evenings, each offering its own, independent perspective on what contemporary jazz can be.
