Harry Potter Drone Show Comes to Munich for First Time

Late August will bring Munich residents their first glimpse of a spectacle where hundreds of illuminated drones form popular scenes from the young wizard's films.

The DroneArt Show, featuring a world premiere, will take place at the Galopprennbahn München-Riem racecourse in late August. The event is organized as part of the “25 Years of Magic” anniversary tour marking the 25th anniversary of the Harry Potter film franchise. The show is presented by Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences and the Fever platform, which has already presented similar shows in more than 40 cities worldwide.

How the Light Show Works

After nightfall, just over 1,200 synchronized illuminated drones will take flight and begin forming images from the Harry Potter films. The unmanned devices will be synchronized with music from the films and dialogue samples, though the violin part of the show will be performed live. The entire presentation will last approximately one hour with a single short intermission.

Additional Attractions for Spectators

Each viewer will receive an LED bracelet that reacts to what happens in the sky-allowing the audience to become part of the performance rather than simply observe from the sidelines.

The racecourse grounds will offer beverages, food, and merchandise featuring Harry Potter branding. These services will be available before and after the main show.

The show takes place under open skies and is designed for viewers aged six and older.

Dates, Tickets, and Venue

The show is scheduled for August 27, 28, and 29, 2026, with performances beginning at 9:00 p.m. While Munich has hosted similar events before, this will be the first of such scale. Tickets are already on sale through the Fever app. It is worth noting that parking spaces at the racecourse are limited.

After its Munich run, the DroneArt Show will continue its international tour through North America, Great Britain, and select European cities. In Germany, the show will also be presented in Berlin and Cologne in addition to Munich. It is gratifying to see Munich included as one of the key stops on the tour.
