Activists Briefly Occupy TUM Building, Demand End to Cooperation with Israel

On Friday evening (November 7), approximately 40 pro-Palestine activists attempted to occupy the Technical University of Munich (TUM). This was reported by the "Süddeutsche Zeitung" (SZ) on Saturday.

Group Protested Cooperation with Israeli Universities

According to the report, the activists entered the lobby of the main building on Arcisstraße and staged a protest there. They demanded that TUM end its cooperation with universities in Israel. The group accused the university of being complicit in genocide in the Gaza Strip.

As the “SZ” reported, citing police statements, the demonstration was monitored by approximately 100 police officers. Despite their presence, part of the group managed to enter and occupy the university building. After about two and a half hours, the activists voluntarily left the premises.

No University Response Yet

The action was later shared by the participants in a post on Instagram. In it, the activists also call on other European universities to take action.

It remains unclear whether the Technical University of Munich will file a criminal complaint for trespassing.
