According to a police report, emergency services received the call on the evening of Thursday, January 22. Around 7:00 PM, a fire erupted at the recycling plant located in the Port of Nuremberg. The flames engulfed a storage area containing shredded plastic, covering an area of approximately five by ten meters.
Personnel from Fire Station 4 arrived promptly at the scene and were able to quickly contain the blaze, which had reached heights of five meters due to the accumulation of recyclable material. Firefighters operated using respiratory protection equipment. Fortunately, the fire remained confined to the storage area and was almost completely extinguished by the rescuers within a short time.
With the assistance of a wheel loader belonging to the company, the remaining smoldering material was removed from the storage bay and fully extinguished on the adjacent grounds. Thanks to the fire department’s rapid response, further spread of the fire was prevented.
In addition to the crews from Fire Station 4, units from Fire Station 5, the Gartenstadt Volunteer Fire Department, and emergency medical services were present at the scene, though their intervention was ultimately not required.
