Allach – Siemens Mobility is increasing “capacity in production and service to meet the growing demand for locomotives” at its Allach site, according to a company statement. A spokesperson confirmed that this involves 500 additional jobs. In response to an inquiry from Hallo, he explained: “Since 2023, €250 million have been invested for this purpose—in new buildings, state-of-the-art production facilities, expanded service areas, and the extension of AI-based software solutions.”
Currently, an application for the “construction and operation of a facility for building rail vehicles” is being processed by the Department for Climate and Environmental Protection (RKU). However, this application is raising many questions for the local district committee, particularly regarding effective noise protection.
Siemens is Expanding in Allach: More Jobs are Assured—But Will Noise Complaints Increase?
“The district committee has already received complaints about sudden nighttime noise from the site,” says Stefanie Martin (CSU), chair of the Planning and Construction subcommittee. If production continues to expand into a three-shift operation, it would have “detrimental health effects” on residents’ sleep.
“We are in direct dialogue with residents and the authorities and have promptly implemented various noise-reduction measures in recent weeks and months,” the company spokesperson emphasized to Hallo. Further steps are being continuously reviewed. The district committee has not yet issued an official statement. According to the RKU, the application documents required for the public hearing are not yet complete.
