Knife Threat and Gunfire Prompt Emergency Response
According to police reports, officers received an emergency call reporting a life-threatening situation involving a knife and gunfire inside an apartment. Multiple units were immediately dispatched to the multi-family residence in Harlaching to secure the scene.
Preliminary findings indicate that a 49-year-old man and a 55-year-old man became embroiled in a heated argument for reasons that remain unclear. During the dispute, the older man punched the 49-year-old in the face, causing minor injuries. He then escalated the situation by pulling out a knife and threatening the victim.
Gas Pistol Fired in Self-Defense, Suspect Flees
In response to the knife threat, the 49-year-old retrieved a gas-powered handgun and fired a shot into the ceiling, seemingly in an attempt to defend himself or de-escalate the conflict. The loud discharge prompted the 55-year-old to flee the apartment.
Police Secure Weapon and Detain Resident
Upon arrival, police officers instructed the 49-year-old to exit the apartment without his weapon. He complied and was taken into temporary custody. The gas pistol was recovered at the scene.
The man was transported to a nearby police station for questioning. Authorities have launched an investigation against him on charges of making threats and violating weapons regulations. After initial police procedures were completed, he was released from custody.
