The new daily route will be operated by Air Arabia using modern Airbus A320neo aircraft, as announced by Flughafen München GmbH.
First German Destination for Air Arabia
This marks the first time that Air Arabia includes a German city in its network. Through its hub in Sharjah, the airline will offer passengers a wide range of onward connections to destinations across the Middle East and Asia.
Oliver Dersch, Senior Vice President Aviation at Munich Airport, commented on the development: “We are very pleased about this partnership with Air Arabia, which not only expands our offer for passengers but also strengthens our position in traffic with the Gulf states.”
Two New UNESCO World Heritage Sites Now Connected
The announcement of the new flight route coincided with the recent addition of prominent cultural sites in both Bavaria and Sharjah to the UNESCO World Heritage List. In Bavaria, Neuschwanstein Castle, Herrenchiemsee Palace, and Linderhof Palace were recognized for their cultural and historical significance. Meanwhile, the Emirate of Sharjah received international recognition for the Faya Palaeolandscape, a prehistoric desert cultural landscape showcasing traces of human settlement dating back up to 200,000 years. This site is considered a remarkable example of human adaptation to extreme environmental conditions.
From Royal Palaces to Prehistoric Desert Heritage in 7.5 Hours
The new flight connection links two UNESCO-listed cultural regions: the historic architectural landmarks of Bavaria and the ancient desert landscapes of the Arabian Peninsula. The journey between Munich and Sharjah will take approximately seven and a half hours.
Sharjah Offers Coastal Access and Cultural Riches
Sharjah is widely regarded as the cultural capital of the United Arab Emirates. Located about 30 minutes by car from Dubai, it is the only emirate with coastlines on both the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, thanks to three exclaves. Visitors can explore museums, Islamic architecture, traditional souks, as well as unique coastal and desert environments.
Tickets Now Available
Tickets for the new Munich–Sharjah route are now available for booking on the Air Arabia website.
