Aubing Hosts Weeklong Cultural Festival with Over 150 Events Across the District

From Wednesday, 17 July, through Tuesday, 23 July, the western Munich districts of Aubing, Lochhausen, and Langwied will transform into a vibrant open-air cultural stage.

The annual district festival, known as Stadtteilwoche, will feature approximately 150 events at 25 different locations. More than 110 local associations, institutions, and organizations are involved in organizing and presenting the program. Admission to all events is free.

Belandwiese Becomes the Festival Hub with Live Performances and Cabaret

At the heart of the celebrations is the Belandwiese, which will serve as the central outdoor venue throughout the week. A large circus tent will be erected on the meadow, hosting prominent artists in cabaret, music, and variety performances. Highlights include shows by Couplet AG, Claudia Pichler, and the Hippie Chamber Orchestra. The festival will officially open on 17 July at 7:30 p.m., when Munich’s Mayor Dieter Reiter delivers his welcoming address. Immediately afterward, singer-songwriter and cabaret performer Roland Hefter will kick off the stage program with music and humor.

Adjacent to the main tent, a separate food and drink tent will host a daily “after-work gathering” from 6:00 p.m., featuring performances by local music groups, chilled beverages, and regional culinary specialties.

Diverse Cultural Program Offers Tours, Exhibitions, Concerts, and Interactive Events

Beyond the central venue, the entire district will offer a wide range of cultural experiences. On Thursday, 17 July, at 2:00 p.m., visitors can join a guided tour of the construction site for the new U5 subway line in Freiham. On Saturday at 10:00 a.m., there will be a guided visit to a historic forge in Langwied. History enthusiasts can join a walking tour of the former Lochhausen brickyard site on Sunday from 10:00 a.m.

Classical opera arias will be performed in the garden of the Alte Schule on Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. On Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., visitors with an interest in engineering and urban infrastructure can tour the Munich municipal wastewater facility. Various Freiham-based institutions and construction projects will open their doors to the public on Saturday. The cultural center Ubo 9 will host a daily program of concerts, readings, and interactive offerings throughout the festival week, except on Tuesday.

Cultural Market Showcases Local Organizations and Community Engagement

A major highlight of the week is the large cultural market, or Kulturdult, held on the festival grounds on Saturday and Sunday, 19 and 20 July, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Dozens of local clubs, initiatives, and organizations will present themselves with information booths, performances, and interactive activities. Visitors will have the chance to create their own herbal salt or explore firefighting vehicles up close during a showcase by the local fire department.

A Festival of Culture and Community for All Ages

The Stadtteilwoche offers an inclusive and diverse cultural program that invites people of all generations to participate, discover, and enjoy. Thanks to the dedication of countless volunteers, artists, and community groups, the event promises a lively week of creativity, dialogue, and celebration in the heart of Munich’s west.
