Following last year’s major anniversary—the 50th Press Ball was celebrated in 2024—the benefit gala hosted by Augsburger Allgemeine is turning a new page this fall. “With fresh ideas, new formats, and special accents, we have once again evolved our ball,” says Alexandra Holland, publisher of Augsburger Allgemeine. The evening will also be shaped by two special anniversaries, the host emphasizes: “Augsburger Allgemeine is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, and Kartei der Not, our newspaper’s reader aid organization, is marking 60 years—two success stories that are inextricably linked to the Press Ball and that we will celebrate together.”
Musically, this year’s Press Ball offers a broad spectrum of well-known audience favorites and new performers: In the Grand Ballroom, the Klaus Ammann Orchestra will open the evening with a wide repertoire ranging from dance music and big band sounds to musical and film melodies. The highlight follows traditionally around midnight: Which main act will come to Augsburg for this year’s Press Ball will be revealed shortly. After the midnight show, the party in the Grand Ballroom is far from over: DJ Guido La Vespa and his friends will transform the venue into a spectacular after-show party and a huge dance club.
The entire proceeds from the grand raffle will again go to Kartei der Not. Outside the Grand Ballroom as well, the Press Ball focuses on musical diversity: In the RT1 Nightclub, RT1 DJs Heiko Glück and Enrico Ostendorf will keep the energy high—this time alongside internationally sought-after Augsburg DJ David Kochs. The Gin Bar, already a crowd magnet last year, will become a party zone this year: Augsburg DJs Daniel Fibrile and ScorPhalcon will spin oldies, new funk, 80s sounds, and house. The Grand Foyer belongs to the band Glamour Chief with their characteristic blend of soul, swing, funk, jazz, and pop, and in the Champagne Foyer, Charlie Glass will entertain on the piano with an impressively broad repertoire.
A variety of bars and culinary offerings will provide suitable drinks and gourmet delights. In addition to seats in the Grand Ballroom, on the balcony, and promenade tickets, this year introduces a new ticket category with seated places including a drinks package on the Casino Gallery—comfortable, quieter, and with a view of the ball events in the Grand Foyer.
The grand raffle, whose entire proceeds traditionally go to Kartei der Not and significantly contribute to funding aid projects, will again feature over 1000 prizes and six particularly high-value main prizes in 2025: a Mercedes A-Class, a jewelry set from Chopard (donated by jeweler Herbert Mayer), one year of personal training at KRAFTWERK Friedberg, a custom-tailored suit from Scabal, a complete bridal outfit from “Die Brautflüsterin,” and a stay at a 5-star resort in Sardinia, made possible by Oscar Reisen.
With every raffle ticket purchased, guests support the work of Kartei der Not—thus combining a glittering evening with social commitment for people in need in our region at the Augsburg Press Ball.
