Police officers apprehended the youth in the early hours of Saturday morning. At the request of the Augsburg public prosecutor’s office, a arrest warrant was issued for him on charges of aggravated robbery. The police initially did not specify the youth’s nationality. Upon inquiry, it was stated that the youth is Bulgarian.
Perpetrator Threatened Employee with a Knife on Ulmer Straße in Augsburg
The robbery occurred last Monday at a jewelry store on Ulmer Straße in the Oberhausen district. According to the current investigation, the perpetrator entered the store around 9:20 AM and threatened an employee with a knife, demanding the handover of valuables. The perpetrator ultimately fled with loot valued at approximately €2,500 towards the Branderviertel area. No one was injured.
An immediate police manhunt initially did not lead to an arrest. The description of the perpetrator matches the suspect now in custody. Witnesses had described him as an “apparently young man.” He was dressed in black and wore a balaclava. It was reported after the crime that he spoke broken German.
The police are currently withholding further information following the arrest, stating that the details are part of the ongoing investigation.
