Unknown Perpetrators Sabotage S-Bahn Line S7 Trains in Munich

Between October 31st and November 2nd, several S-Bahn trains on Munich's Line S7 were deliberately damaged.

The Federal Police are investigating on charges of aggravated theft and property damage – and are examining whether one or more, as yet unidentified, individuals are behind the acts.

13 Driver’s Cabs Affected

According to the Federal Police, a total of 13 driver’s cabs on operational S-Bahn trains were tampered with. Hand microphones used for loudspeaker announcements and electronic cables were damaged.

Furthermore, the handsets for the radio telephones disappeared. The police estimate the damage is in the upper four-figure range (i.e., several thousand euros).

Perpetrators Apparently Used Keys

Since no signs of forced entry were found on the door locks, investigators assume the perpetrator(s) gained access using special keys. How these keys came into their possession is currently unclear.

To solve the case, the Federal Police are currently reviewing numerous video recordings – from both the affected S-Bahn trains and from stops along the S7 line.

According to the Federal Police, it is still unclear whether this was pure vandalism or if other motives are behind the acts.
