29-Year-Old Biker Dies After Collision with VW Van
The woman was traveling north on State Road 2057, north of Issing, at approximately 5:45 p.m. At that time, the 69-year-old driver of a VW transporter attempted to turn onto the state road from the Hirschberg junction. According to police, this resulted in a collision with the motorcyclist, who had the right of way.
The young woman, who was wearing protective gear, sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash. First responders and subsequently emergency services attempted to resuscitate the 29-year-old for about an hour. However, she ultimately succumbed to her severe injuries.
Police Estimate Property Damage at Around €25,000
The driver of the VW van suffered severe shock. Both vehicles involved in the accident were impounded by the Augsburg public prosecutor’s office. The motorcycle was a total loss, and the VW van sustained massive damage to its A-pillar area. Police estimate the property damage at €25,000.
An accident assessor was commissioned on the orders of the public prosecutor. There is currently no evidence of a technical defect in the vehicles or of either party being unfit to drive. According to police, the investigation is ongoing. The fire department supported police at the scene with approximately 20 personnel.
