Motorcyclist Injured While Attempting to Pass Tram
According to information released by Munich police, a 62-year-old woman was riding her motorcycle along Innere Wiener Straße toward Max-Weber-Platz when she attempted to overtake a tram near Wiener Platz. At the same time, a 66-year-old driver on Steinstraße was making a left turn onto Innere Wiener Straße, heading toward Gasteig. The two vehicles collided in the intersection.
The motorcyclist sustained injuries and was transported by emergency services to a hospital for further treatment. Both the motorcycle and the car were severely damaged and had to be towed from the scene. Police estimate property damage in the range of several thousand euros.
Emergency Response Causes Temporary Street Closure
As police conducted their investigation, parts of Innere Wiener Straße were temporarily closed to traffic. The Munich Fire Department was also deployed to clear leaking vehicle fluids from the road surface. The accident caused considerable traffic congestion in the surrounding Haidhausen district.
Public Transit Restored After Delays
Tram operations were also affected due to the road closure, but service has since returned to normal. Police confirmed that the blocked section of Innere Wiener Straße is now fully accessible and tram traffic has resumed regular operations. The Munich traffic police continue to investigate the exact cause of the collision.
