Bavarian Police Officer Philipp Nawrath Wins First Olympic Biathlon Medal

The Bavarian Police have celebrated their first major success at the 2026 Olympic Games. Philipp Nawrath secured a bronze medal as part of the German mixed biathlon relay team.

As a representative of the winter division for high-performance sports, he has brought the Bavarian Police their first Olympic award of the current Games.

The mixed relay, consisting of two women and two men, is considered one of the most challenging events in Olympic biathlon. Philipp Nawrath’s performance was particularly remarkable: he committed no errors at the shooting ranges and made a decisive contribution to placing the German team on the podium.

With this bronze medal, Nawrath demonstrated his athletic class and provided a clear signal of the effectiveness of the Bavarian Police’s high-performance sports support system on an international level. This award is not only a personal achievement but also a success for the entire departmental community.

Nawrath’s next opportunity to compete for a medal occurred on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, during the individual race. All Bavarian Police employees have been cheering for their colleague.

Mixed Results for the Police Athletic Team

The weekend was less fortunate for Ramona Hofmeister. The athlete, competing in snowboard cross, was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the parallel giant slalom after suffering a fall during her heat against the eventual Olympic champion. Despite the early exit, she reaffirmed her position among the world’s elite—in an elimination system, the outcome is often decided by the smallest of details.

While the first medal is already secured, the Olympic Games are far from over for the Bavarian Police team. Colleagues continue to support and empathize with the athletes as a unified team.

These episodes feature participants of the Bavarian Police high-performance sports program who are currently competing in the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo.
