Department of Mobility announced free bicycle checks in Munich

With the arrival of spring warmth, the administration of the Bavarian capital decided to take care of the safety of two-wheeled transport enthusiasts and invited everyone to take advantage of free technical maintenance.

During March, the Department of Mobility planned three large-scale field events, the main feature of which will be a maximally simple format — professional transport inspection will be carried out without any preliminary appointment or bureaucratic delays.

As reported by the Munich municipality, during these actions, qualified technical specialists will conduct diagnostics and, if necessary, promptly adjust the braking system, as well as check the operability of lighting devices and the presence of all reflectors required by law.

In addition, the mandatory list of free work includes precise tire pressure control, individual adjustment of the saddle position for the owner’s height, and a thorough check of the chain condition. A pleasant addition will be the social component of the action: service employees will provide professional tire inflation for baby strollers and wheelchairs.

Technical inspection in Munich without appointment

Specialized mobile check points will be open to citizens during March according to a clearly established schedule. Thus, on Tuesday, March 10, the reception of citizens is organized at the cozy Bordeauxplatz from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

On Monday, March 16, the masters will deploy their workshop on Lassallestraße, and the final exit in the series of spring checks will take place on Thursday, March 26 — technical inspection will be available to everyone at the busy corner of Leopoldstraße and Ungererstraße. It is important to note that the working hours at all selected locations remain the same, which allows residents to plan their visit in advance.

Vision Zero strategy in action

The Department of Mobility organizes such local actions on a regular basis throughout the calendar year, and twice a year, Munich residents can expect even more extensive service events covering almost all districts of the city. Such systematic activity has become an important part of implementing the ambitious international Vision Zero strategy, the primary and only goal of which is the complete elimination of fatalities and cases of severe injuries on the roads of Munich.

Due to the fact that spring weather can be fickle and short-term changes in the schedule of the points are possible, it is recommended to clarify the current information before leaving on the specialized city portal in the corresponding information section.
