The city has prepared a diverse program for children, including interactive concerts, classical productions, and musical puppet theater. Munich will turn into a space of sound impressions: from educational programs to an ice show and colorful parades that will make this month memorable.
For those planning leisure in advance, the editorial office of the publication My Munich with a Child has prepared a detailed calendar of events. This list of ideas for family vacations is compiled taking into account seasonality and is available for free download on the official resource.
From interactive festivals to classical music
The program opens with the Gasteig brummt! festival, which will take place on March 6 and 7. As part of this event, children and teenagers are given the opportunity to independently play music, dance, and engage in creativity at various workshops. A week later, on March 14, the interactive concert Klick! The World Sounds! will take place at the Gasteig HP8 cultural center, allowing young listeners to take a sonic journey around the world and get acquainted with the cultures of different countries.
Lovers of the classics should pay attention to March 8. On this day, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, together with the percussion duo Double Drums, will present a program at the Prinzregententheater combining international rhythms and works by Schumann and Grieg. This performance is aimed at young listeners aged five and up.
A true classic in a new reading awaits families on March 22: the symphonic fairy tale Peter and the Wolf will be shown in the format of a musical puppet theater at Gasteig HP8. The production was prepared by the puzzletheater münchen collective and the concierto münchen chamber orchestra for spectators from four years old.
St. Patrick’s Day festival and suburban trips
The traditional St. Patrick’s Day parade will pass through the streets of Munich on March 15. The procession will begin at 12:00 PM from Münchner Freiheit and proceed through the city center to Odeonsplatz. About 1,500 people will take part in the event, including folklore groups and pipers. Food trucks will accompany the parade, making the event interesting for both children and adults.
For those who prefer a calmer atmosphere away from the city noise, events in the suburbs are provided. From March 13 to 15, the bosco, bambini! festival will be held in Gauting. The weekend program includes fairy tales, theater performances, and creative workshops where both parents with toddlers and representatives of the older generation will be welcome.
Disney magic and adventures in the jungle
A special event is planned for the period from March 20 to 22 at the Olympiahalle concert hall. The ice show Disney on Ice: Heroic Adventures will present viewers with complex choreographic numbers, more than 200 costumes, and fairy-tale decorations. Organizers recommend taking care of purchasing tickets in advance.
The musical conclusion of the month will be the musical Tarzan from the Liberi theater, the screening of which will take place on March 27 at the Wolf-Ferrari-Haus in Ottobrunn. The production with bright costumes and jungle decorations is suitable for children from four years old and will be an excellent reason for a family trip outside the city.
