Flea markets with Korean food and live music to open in Munich this weekend, 10–12 July

This coming weekend will bring an unusual variety to flea market enthusiasts in Munich. Alongside the usual permanent markets, the city will host night fairs with Korean street food, charity sales and family events with music.

Anyone looking for a worthwhile way to spend the weekend, with some good finds along the way, should plan a route across several locations in advance.

Friday, 10 July: courtyards, the Olympic Park and a Korean night market

The day will begin, as usual, at the permanent venues — the flea markets in Daglfing and the Olympic Park. They open early in the morning and remain among the most reliable draws for collectors and vintage hunters.

In the evening, activity will shift to the Harlaching district, where private courtyards and gardens will turn into temporary market stalls as part of the M-net Hofflohmärkte project. The format offers a chance to see the city’s neighbourhoods from the inside while also turning up unusual items not found at the larger fairs.

At the same time, at 17:00, the international night market Midnightbazar will open in the old Paketposthalle building on the grounds of Pineapple Park. The event is devoted to South Korean culture: visitors can expect street food, K-pop, dance performances and swap stalls. Admission costs 5 euros.

Saturday, 11 July: from large fairs to a night market in Glonn

Saturday morning will begin with a series of courtyard markets in the Hadern district. Driveways, garages and the inner courtyards of residential buildings will become temporary stalls selling clothes and second-hand goods. The format is aimed at those looking for affordable finds in the quiet setting of a residential neighbourhood.

At the same time, a charity fair will take place on Luise-Kiesselbach-Platz as part of the summer festival held by the Malteser aid service. Proceeds from the sale of goods will go towards programmes tackling poverty among the elderly.

In the evening, the night market with Korean street food at Pineapple Park will continue for a second day running. For those who prefer a more intimate setting, a separate night market with rare finds and live music by the band Mardi Gras will take place in the centre of Glonn.

Sunday, 12 July: a summer day of finds and a cultural “beach”

Sunday morning will open with courtyard markets in the Ramersdorf district. At the same time, another edition of Kulturstrand will take place by the Vater-Rhein-Brunnen fountain — a format held every second Sunday of the month that focuses on swapping goods, sustainability and neighbourly get-togethers.

In the afternoon, the Krims & Krams market will open at the Bahnwärter Thiel cultural space. Here fashion, costumes, art objects and live music will all come together — a format meant more for strolling and soaking up the atmosphere than for quick shopping.
