On the busy Verdistraße, a collision occurred between a twelve-year-old boy and a commercial vehicle, leading to severe consequences. An ordinary street crossing turned into an emergency situation that required the immediate intervention of rescue services and the police. The incident completely altered the normal flow of traffic in this part of the city for some time, forcing drivers to seek detours while medics fought to stabilize the young pedestrian.
Circumstances of the collision on Verdistraße
The incident took place on Saturday, March 7, 2026, around 12:00 PM near building number 45. The twelve-year-old teenager intended to cross the roadway, moving in a southern direction. At the same moment, a Fiat light truck, driven by a 47-year-old resident of the Ebersberg district, was traveling along Verdistraße toward Nymphenburg. The situation was complicated by a traffic jam: a scheduled bus was stationary in one of the lanes at that time.
According to preliminary police data, the boy successfully crossed the first of the two traffic lanes. However, when he began to step into the second lane directly from behind the stationary bus, he found himself directly in the path of the truck. The driver had no opportunity to notice the child, who appeared suddenly from behind the obstacle, and the collision became unavoidable. The force of the impact was such that the teenager was thrown onto the asphalt.
Aftermath and emergency response
As a result of the collision, the twelve-year-old boy sustained multiple severe injuries. An ambulance crew arrived promptly at the scene and, after providing initial emergency care, decided on immediate hospitalization. The victim was transported to a specialized clinic in Munich for further treatment. Information regarding the child’s current condition remains subject to medical confidentiality, though the injuries are characterized as serious.
The work of law enforcement agencies to file the report and record evidence of the accident required temporary traffic restrictions. Verdistraße was completely closed toward the city center for approximately one hour, leading to significant congestion in the district’s road network. Currently, the traffic police are continuing a thorough investigation into all circumstances of the incident to reconstruct the full picture of what happened.Source: Munich Police Press Release
