The siblings, who were on the lake with a stand-up paddleboard, didn’t hesitate and pulled the boy out of the life-threatening situation.
Lifesaving Awareness
The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon during a family outing in Rückholz. The boy was supposed to stay in the shallow area of Schwaltenweiher but decided to swim to a small island instead. After about 300 meters, his strength gave out, and he began struggling in the water.
Siblings’ Quick Response
The boy’s distress was noticed by a 13-year-old and his 9-year-old sister, who happened to be nearby on their paddleboard. Without hesitation, they pulled the drowning boy onto their board and safely brought him back to shore. Meanwhile, the boy’s mother had realized he was missing and immediately alerted emergency services.
Large-Scale Rescue Operation
Police, paramedics, volunteer firefighters, and the water rescue team rushed to Schwaltenweiher. A rescue helicopter and a police helicopter were even deployed for support. However, when emergency crews arrived, they were relieved to find the boy had already been rescued unharmed.
Gratitude and Relief
Thanks to the courageous actions of the two siblings, a tragedy was averted. The rescued boy’s family was deeply moved and expressed heartfelt thanks to the young heroes for their swift intervention.
