Canadian band Rush will perform in Munich with a drummer from Bavaria

Rush are considered one of Canada’s most influential bands. After more than ten years, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson will perform in Germany again.

The Canadian cult collective Rush (Tom Sawyer, The Spirit of Radio) will visit Germany in 2027 with five concerts. As part of the 50 Something anniversary tour, which begins this summer in the USA, vocalist and bassist Geddy Lee (72 years old) and guitarist Alex Lifeson (72 years old) will perform in Munich on February 25.

The duo will be supported by German drummer Anika Nilles (42 years old). The native of Aschaffenburg will take the place of Neil Peart. The long-time Rush drummer passed away in 2020 from the consequences of a brain tumor. The band gave its last concert in 2015. In Europe, the legendary progressive rock trio last performed in 2013.

A celebration of music and memory

This should not be just a trip, we want to organize a celebration, Geddy Lee shared in a conversation with the Deutsche Presse-Agentur news agency. The musician added: We will honor the memory of Neil. We will remember all those songs that we wrote over more than 50 years. This will become a real anniversary celebration and a look at our musical life. We will try to make this event as joyful as possible.

Advance ticket sales will begin on Friday

Rush are recognized as one of the most significant rock bands in the history of music. Members of Metallica and Foo Fighters, actors Jack Black and Paul Rudd, TV host Stephen Colbert, and South Park creator Matt Stone call themselves fans of the collective. Ticket sales for the German concerts will begin on Friday. They can be purchased via the Eventim portal or on the band’s official website.

Other performances in Germany in 2027 are planned in Berlin (21.2), Cologne (28.2), Hamburg (2.3), and Stuttgart (4.3).Source: TZ
