According to a statement confirmed by police to Bavarian Broadcasting, the child was located late Thursday morning on a train traveling from Freiburg to Stuttgart.
A vigilant train attendant recognized the boy and immediately notified the Federal Police in Offenburg. The child’s mother was expected to travel to Baden-Württemberg the same day to pick him up.
Train Attendant Identifies Missing Child
At approximately 10:00 a.m., the train attendant noticed the boy while he was already en route back. Based on current findings, the boy had apparently attempted to visit a friend, but the visit did not go as planned. The fact that he undertook the trip without informing his parents will likely be addressed within the family.
Police Launch Wide-Scale Search Operation
The boy left his home around 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, reportedly telling his parents he was heading to school. However, he never arrived. His backpack was packed with several T-shirts and sweaters, indicating he may have planned the excursion in advance. When he failed to return by the afternoon, his parents reported him missing.
In response, police launched a large-scale search operation, deploying patrol vehicles and search teams. A photo of the boy was released to the public in hopes of gathering information.
Family Reunion Imminent
The discovery of the child has brought considerable relief. He is physically unharmed and in good condition. His mother was en route to reunite with him, with the family expected to be together again by the end of the day.
