Emergency services reported that the blaze engulfed two excavators located at the site of a future cycling path along Wolfratshauser Straße. Although firefighters responded swiftly, the machinery was completely destroyed.
Fire crews immediately began extinguishing the flames using two C-hose lines and foam suppressant. To maintain a sufficient water supply, the unit commander requested additional specialized equipment. Despite efforts that lasted roughly 50 minutes, both excavators were entirely consumed by the fire.
Initial estimates place the material damage at approximately €400,000. Following the fire suppression, emergency responders collected leaked technical fluids from the destroyed machinery to prevent environmental contamination.
Police were also present at the scene, providing lighting during the nighttime operation and assisting with rescue coordination. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
