This June, the inner courtyard of the Alte Münze (Old Mint) in Munich will host a specialized open-air wine tasting organized by the historic Dallmayr trading house. Twenty-five specialized wineries from key European countries will transform the venue into a presentation space for their most iconic products, catering to both the expert community and the general public. This event is integrated into the summer program of official cultural and gastronomic events in the Bavarian capital and is designed to showcase current industry standards.
In international practice, winemaking is traditionally viewed not only as a developed branch of the agricultural sector but also as a protected object of tangible cultural heritage. For centuries, this beverage has maintained its status as one of the most sought-after products on a global scale and is regularly mentioned in classic literary works. “It’s a pity that wine cannot be caressed,” noted German publicist Kurt Tucholsky in his essays. American poet Edward Estlin Cummings used the metaphor: “His lips drink water, but his heart drinks wine.” In turn, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe pointed out the important social function of winemaking: “A girl and a glass of wine are saviors in need, for he who does not drink and he who does not kiss is virtually dead.”
The upcoming “Dallmayr & Friends Weinprobe” event is dedicated to this very theme. As a venue, the organizers have chosen the inner courtyard of the Alte Münze, one of the best-preserved architectural monuments of the Renaissance era in Bavaria. The open-air presentation format will allow participants to familiarize themselves with both standard assortment items and promising new releases that are just entering the international market.
In Search of Exceptional Wines Across Europe
The preparatory phase of the event took several months and involved expert selection work. A qualified team of sommelier experts from the Dallmayr trading house conducted a series of working trips across European countries to select the most characteristic samples from various climate zones. The final selection includes 25 wineries representing both historical apparatuses and small, niche estates demonstrating high potential.
Among the announced participants are young winemakers Christoph and Julia Wachter from the Austrian region of Burgenland, who specialize in local varieties. The Italian region of Campania will be represented by the well-known estate Feudi di San Gregorio, which experts class among the key producers of the country’s south. The German winery Am Stein will demonstrate modern technological approaches to the vinification of the traditional Silvaner variety. The French region of Sancerre will be represented by the products of winemaker Mathieu Delaporte, whose estate management methods comply with strict international environmental standards.
The official date for the “Dallmayr & Friends” tasting is Saturday, June 20. In order to comply with safety standards and ensure comfortable conditions for professional analysis of the lots, the organizers have divided the program into two separate time intervals. Each slot has a strict attendance limit and is designed for 400 people (thus, the total quota per slot does not exceed 1,000 participants). The first interval will last from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and the second from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
The nominal price of an admission ticket is €39. This fee functions as a deposit: the full amount will be credited as a discount when placing an order for the featured products worth €150 or more directly on the day of the event. Ticket sales are handled centrally and exclusively through the authorized Dallmayr electronic platform on the official website www.dallmayr.de. The event will take place at the following address: Hofgraben 4, 80539 München.
In conclusion, the “Dallmayr & Friends” project represents an example of a systematic approach to organizing professional tasting platforms for a target audience. The direct involvement of leading European producers, a strict limit on the number of participants, and an expert selection of lots make it possible to view this event as an important tool for developing the region’s specialized market, helping to increase consumer awareness and strengthen direct foreign economic ties in Europe’s agricultural and winemaking sectors.
