Dachau Folk Festival 2025: Beer Prices, Highlights, and Safety Measures at a Glance

The Dachau Folk Festival is once again set to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors in 2025—offering not only its signature regional charm but also the most affordable beer prices in the greater Munich area.

With a strong focus on family-friendliness, security, and a diverse program, the festival promises something for everyone.

Most Affordable Beer in the Region: Dachau Holds the Top Spot

Starting Saturday, August 9, the Ludwig-Thoma-Wiese will once again be transformed into a vibrant festival ground. Beer lovers have reason to celebrate: the Dachau Folk Festival continues its tradition of keeping drink prices modest. A liter of Augustiner beer in the main tent costs just €10.40, while smaller tents offer Spaten Märzen for as low as €9.80. In comparison, beer prices at Oktoberfest 2025 in Munich range from €14.80 to €15.80 per liter.

A special debut awaits visitors in the new wheat beer garden run by festival host Anna-Maria Fahrenschon: the local brewery Amperbräu will introduce its specially brewed “Karussellweiße” for the first time.

More Security, More for Families

Around 300,000 visitors are expected again this year. In response to the large crowds, the festival has strengthened its security measures. In addition to the standard bag checks and police-monitored video surveillance, new access barriers have been installed at all entrances for the first time.

Organizers are also emphasizing family-friendliness and regional identity. “The Dachau Folk Festival is a celebration by the region, for the region—with local hosts, vendors, bands, and traditional food,” the City of Dachau told t-online.

In addition to a general Family Day, there will be two special Children’s Days on August 13 and 18, featuring reduced prices on all rides and attractions until midnight. The goal is to make the event more inclusive for families with children.

Tradition, Fairy Tale Parade, and Sports Highlights

One of the most popular program highlights is the children’s parade on Sunday, August 10. Around 500 children in costume will transform the city center into a magical fairy tale world, with characters like “Snow-White and Rose-Red” and the adventurous “Amper Pirates.”

Sports fans can look forward to the Dachau Mountain Criterium on August 15. This traditional bicycle race runs through the historic Old Town and is one of the major sporting events of the festival week. Another visitor favorite is the grand fireworks display on the evening of August 13, which draws thousands of spectators every year.

How to Get There and Opening Hours

The festival runs from August 9 to 18 and is open daily from 12:00 to 24:00. Getting there is easy by public transportation: the Dachau train station is just a short walk from the festival grounds. There are also plenty of bicycle parking spaces available. Drivers will find parking options around the event site as well.

With a history spanning more than 350 years—originally established as a horse race—the Dachau Folk Festival is now one of the most beloved traditional events in Old Bavaria. Thanks to its unique blend of local customs, culinary delights, and entertainment, it continues to attract large crowds year after year.
