A Fire Has Occurred in the Control Tower at Munich Airport, the Airport Has Suspended Its Operations

An emergency incident at one of Germany's largest aviation hubs has led to a temporary halt in its operations. A fire broke out in the control tower at Munich International Airport, causing the handling of all flights to be promptly terminated.

Currently, emergency services are engaged in eliminating the consequences of the blaze and establishing the causes of what happened, while passengers face flight delays.

According to official reports, all personnel were immediately evacuated from the tower building. According to information from the broadcasting company BR, the reception and departure of flights have been completely stopped since 20:33. Aircraft that were scheduled to land in Munich at this time have already been diverted to other airports in the region. This has affected, among other things, a Lufthansa flight from Lyon, which is now forced to make a landing in Stuttgart.

The sudden stoppage of Munich Airport’s operations will entail serious disruptions in flight schedules across Europe due to the high density of flights. Current measures to divert aircraft to alternative airports allow for minimizing risks to flight safety; however, eliminating the consequences of the accident in the control room will take time. Official representatives of airlines and the airport management promise to provide precise information regarding the resumption of normal air service in the near future.
