Erding Thermal Complex once again took second place in prestigious ranking

The prestigious Parkscout Publikums Award has been presented for over 20 years, remaining a kind of Oscar in the professional leisure industry.

Therme Erding traditionally demonstrates truly impressive and stable results in this large-scale voting, confirming its high status as one of the most beloved and popular holiday destinations in the country. However, this year, against one powerful and modern competitor, the Bavarian complex again stood no chance of winning the top spot.

As part of the official Parkscout Publikums Award 2025/26 results, the Erding thermal complex was officially recognized as second in the list of the best water parks in Germany. As in previous periods, the country’s largest wellness and entertainment center, located near Munich, lost in the final battle for sympathies only to Rulantica. The futuristic and themed water world of Europa-Park in Rust, which opened its doors at the end of 2019, has held the top spot for the sixth consecutive time since 2020, invariably pushing Therme Erding to the honorable second position.

Before the appearance of this ambitious competitor from Baden-Württemberg, the complex in Erding was considered the absolute favorite and held the leadership for three consecutive years. Notably, the third line of the actual rating was taken by Therme Euskirchen, located in the Rhineland. This facility has common roots with the Erding complex: it was designed and built by the famous entrepreneur and architect Josef Wund. By now, both of these iconic locations have passed into the ownership of the international corporation Therme Group, which continues to develop the unique concept of elite water recreation.

Visitors determine the winners of the Parkscout Publikums Award

The Parkscout Publikums Award has been presented annually since 2004. While at the dawn of its existence the award was intended exclusively for classic amusement parks with traditional rides, the organizers later significantly expanded the list of nominations. Now, water parks, zoos, and even themed hotels enter the active struggle for the title. According to industry specialists, this award is still considered the most important and honest mark of quality in the German leisure industry. The secret of this award’s high significance lies in its absolute transparency: unlike many other professional competitions, the fate of the prizes is decided not by a closed jury, but by the ordinary visitor, based on their personal emotions and impressions of their holiday. During the preliminary selection stage, guests sent in their suggestions to form lists by category. Then, the ten most popular venues were put up for the decisive final vote. In the current season, almost 70,000 people took part in the survey, which became an absolute record in the entire history of the award’s existence.
