To ensure public safety, train traffic has been completely halted, and the transport hub building remains inaccessible to passengers.
Augsburg Central Station is currently closed to the public. The occasion for the emergency measures was a bomb threat — the information was confirmed by a police spokesperson. Everyone inside was promptly evacuated, and rail traffic, including long-distance train routes, is completely paralyzed. The large station building and adjacent platforms were emptied while specialists checked every corner for dangerous objects.
Thorough verification of threat reports and work of special services
The station territory remains cordoned off in a wide radius, which has created significant difficulties for city traffic. The basis for starting the operation was a telephone call about a possible dangerous situation. Police emphasize that an investigation into this report is already underway. Law enforcement agencies take such incidents extremely seriously, assessing risks in each individual case. The current situation was deemed dangerous enough to proceed with a full blockade of the city’s largest transport facility.
At the moment, all railway tracks are blocked. Searches are being conducted in the building and on the platforms with the involvement of specially trained service dogs capable of recognizing explosive substances. While the exact number of police officers involved has not been disclosed, eyewitnesses report a significant presence of patrol cars and special units.
According to an official report from DB Regio Bayern, the traffic scheme has been completely revised due to the incident. Trains coming from the direction of Kempten now end their route in Bobingen. Trains coming from Nuremberg only reach the Augsburg-Oberhausen station, and regional trains from Memmingen are temporarily running only as far as Buchloe. Passengers are advised to monitor schedule updates and seek alternative ways of travel until the cordon is fully lifted.
